We had two ports in Uruguay. Uruguay is like a buffer between Argentina and Brazil. It is one of the smallest countries in South America and has a population of only 3 million. Our first port, Montevideo, is the capital of the country. We were only there for the afternoon. Neither of us were in the mood for a lot of touring so we stayed close to the ship and the local market area. That isn’t our ship in the background. It is about three times the size of the Prinsendam.
We were having a bit of a camera problem, thus the lines at the top and bottom. The local market.

Home is never far away.
A grave yard of ships behind where we were docked.
The next day we docked in Punta del Este, Uruguay. This is a premier resort area with beaches, hotels and the largest colony of sea lions in the southern hemisphere. However, since there wasn’t that much to see in town, we stayed on the ship and had a relaxing day.
After a couple days at sea we arrived at Ilhabela, Brazil. Ilhabela is the biggest of Brazil’s coastal islands. You. can see the volcanic origin by the steep slopes along the coast line. The island is covered by dense tropical jungle. (But no zip lines)
Arriving ashore.
A couple of street pictures.
Along the beach.
Hope you enjoyed this brief trip. We are entering a area of a number of very similar resort ports in Brazil. Quite time for the next couple of weeks…except Rio.
