Our evening in Rio was spent watching a local show on Carnival costumes, dances, and traditions.
Besides tradition, the other two sights were the Statue and Sugar Loaf. Since both are located on mountains and require travel well above the ground, we didn’t go directly to them. However, we do have some pictures to share.
The statue of Christ the Redeemer is located atop Corcovado mountain and stands 130 feet tall. Construction began in 1926 and was finished in 1941. In 2007 the statue was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Some views from atop Sugar Loaf. Those who know Noreen understand why we didn’t go up there.
View from the cable car heading toward the observation building.
And that finishes our time in Rio. On to new ports and adventures. Hope you enjoyed the visit.
